Regain Mac data

Based on the work you do on your Mac, data stored on it can be crucial and you do not want to lose it at any cost. Since a disastrous situation may be encountered anytime, you may not be able to prevent it, but you can certainly avoid data loss. You must be, as data loss is the most painful situation that a Mac user comes across. Though you can recover Mac data even when it is lost permanently, taking precautionary measures is certainly a wise and fruitful decision. In this regard, the most efficient and preferred way to avoid data loss is backing up all precious files to a secure location.

Data backup refers to replicating and archiving all crucial files in such a way that they can be extracted to restore original ones after any data loss event occurs.”

It sounds quite odd that many of the Mac users do back up their crucial files periodically, but the way they back them up is inefficient and protracted as well. Actually, they are saving their crucial files individually to an external drive in order to use them, if original ones are no longer available.

Along with losing some crucial files unknowingly, accidental deletion is also the major cause of data loss. To make out how data is deleted accidentally, let us take a scenario, i.e. you attach your digital camera to your Mac in order to transfer all pictures taken on your family tour during these summer vacations. You select and copy all 65 pictures, and then paste them to a folder named as summer_2013 located on your Mac desktop. On this folder, you find some pictures are blurred and you move them (which are 7 in number) to the Trash bin. Since you keep the Trash clean, you empty it. On coming back to that folder, you find that only 54 pictures are remaining, which should be 58. It means that you have deleted 11 pictures instead of seven (i.e. four pictures are deleted accidentally).

What causes Data Loss

Apart from these manual causes of data loss, some internal as well as external sources are also there. A few of which are as follows:

Power fluctuations and failure: The hardware components embedded in your Mac collectively build its backbone that is powered up by the electricity. To run a computer steadily, it must be getting required amount of constant power supply, since power glitches may cause failure of this backbone including the hard drive.

Forced Shutdown: When Mac runs, thousands of system files are executed with a constant involvement and consumption of system’s resources (i.e. RAM and Processor). When you click Shutdown on your Mac, all such programs are exited properly before it is turned off. Now, if you go for a forced shutdown, these system processes are exited forcibly and may crash, causing failure of the Mac system.

Software and hardware errors: The application you run on your Mac are collections of several small as well as large programs, which sometimes fail due to virus infections, power surges, also when some incorrect type of data is received as input. Similarly, power glitches are hazardous to hardware components embedded in your Mac, which leads to data inaccessibility.

Recover Lost Data

In case you lose some precious files due to accidental deletion or some unknown causes, you do not need to be anxious because under the following circumstances, you can recover lost data with the help of Mac data recovery software:

  1. The hard drive on which data is lost is not reused.

  2. The drive is not defragmented after data loss.

Actually, data lost or deleted from a hard drive becomes inaccessible, but remains intact at its original location and can be recovered using data recovery software. Data recovery software deeply scans hard drive’s sectors and recovers all inaccessible data.

  1. 1. Stop write anything to your harddrive, otherwise you will re-write the files and permanently loose your important data.
    2. Use some data recovery software like this one. My friends recommend it to me, it works pretty well. And then scan your hard drive with the program, set a destination folder (folder where recovered files will be saved) somewhere on your computer. When the scan was finished, it will return a file list, you can choose the files you want to recover.
    Hope this help!

  2. Remo Recover for Mac OS is another powerful tool that does the same task
but instead offers more powerful features to do the same. Its highly
efficient and features an advanced recovery algorithm.

  3. In my experiences, when accidentally losing your data without data backups left, you’d better act carefully to rescue them all back.
Do not format this hard drive and also add no more new stuff on this drive. And then, plunge it to PC and download drive data recovery software to scan this drive and check whether all lost files could be retrieved.
Moreover, in case of data recovery failures, the restored drive data also is supposed not to be moved to the same drive.
Of course, to avoid the similar data loss problems in the future, drive data backups also should be made all the time.
